this is obama’s speech in cairo about how we could better our relationship with the muslim world….we’ve been learning alot about the history of the middle east in my political sociology class….and i am discovering that a lot of the problems that came about were initiated by the united states and britain in their conquest for oil….like i had no idea that iraq was formed in order to bring 2 oil lands together?!?! and i had no idea that the israel and palestine conflict was britain’s doing…it’s funny how it takes one class for alot of students to take to know these kinds of things..we didn’t even learn this shizz in high school..whats up with that?..i mean it is true wut o’connell said….the worst that ppl my age are facing r budget cuts….and it cannot even compare to what people in other countries have to deal with…like he showed us the effects of agent orange in vietnam..and the deformities..some kids had no eyes and arms…..also, 2 veterans from the iraq war came to talk to us last week and they admitted that they and many of the soldiers have no single idea what they are fighting for..and that just makes me feel like shit…
but wow….obama knows all the right things to say…lets just hope that it’s in the interests of the collective people….and not just some
some things make me question tho….like he’s ending the war in iraq…but y is he extending it to afghanistan again? and he wants to intervene in darfur because he wants america to “lead the world, by deed and example.”….that sounds really good and all….but would we be doing it for the right reasons? this sense that it is our responsibility and duty to “help” other nations through military intervention..is that ok? i don’t know
